markmedic's blogIT for healthTickled me to read that stroppy emails were officially bad for you , but I was heartened to hear that online help for depression was available and proven to work. The packaages they tested were Blue Burngreave : In sickness and in health in the Rainbow ValeHere's a superb poem by Alan Robinson, who's just finishing the Community Health and Development course. The poem and work by other course participants will be published and there's a launch event on Sept 9th, 12.30-2.30, venue to follow... Alan has given The Messenger permission to publish it to the web so I've put it here for now. If we can think of a good format it might even be worth laying it out as a nicely designed web-page (?with vocals from it's performance), tied in with some Messenger publicity for the launch. Reasons to move to Munich... part 1Taken from Private Eye, No 1082, June '03 EDUCASHUN MICROSOFT's annual renewable licences continue to drain cash from the UK's education system, where the company enjoys a virtual monopoly (Eye 1062). In Germany, however, the Munich city authorities offer an interesting example. By this time next year there won't be a sniff of Microsoft on any of the 14,000 computers used in city administration, which is to be switched to the open source Linux system with no annual fees to pay. Report from 'Connecting IT to Learning'Just got the draft web-report on-line. I've not changed the videos to a more user friendly format yet, so they're still bulky etc, hope to remedy this soon. It was a really interesting experience of using this site and a 'index' type page in combination. We could build the rest of the report from the event like this, adding pages to the book as it were. Future projects (CIN and Social Firm)Arrrgh!! Just spent all day speaking regen and writing forms. A first draft of the CIN and Social firm RIFs are at http://www.burngreavemessenger.org.uk/bitpart all comments welcome as ever. I wanted to put the files here, but couldn't (MIME file type not permitted). We've a long way to go re presentation before people will be able to use this kind of interactive content. Hoping to meet up with Lynn from BCAT soon and move the social firm on. Theres a long way to go with the projects as well but hopefully a meeting will go ahead on May 6th re the Social firm.
