horde and GnuPG/PGP

We've had a couple of posts recently about expanding what we do with horde.

I'm interested in getting horde working with GNU Privacy Guard [GnuPG] or Pretty Good Privacy [PGP].

Anyone got any good experiences they'd like to share? I would prefer the GnuPG route to the PGP one.

I will update if I make progress.

gpg is installed and functions ..

IMP does not support encrypted mail (s/mime or pgp) except in the unstable branch. I was tracking this about a year ago .. but I can't keep up with updating the code every night. Its not in the stable branch yet.

But gpg's ok ..
For example I can create a gpg key pair (public / private) using

aland@springnight:~ > gpg --gen-key

The I can create a simple text message using my favourite text editor
aland@springnight:~ > cat gpgtest
Hello World

I can sign this
gpg --clearsign gpgtest
pg: Warning: using insecure memory!

You need a passphrase to unlock the secret key for
user: "Alan Dawson "
1024-bit DSA key, ID F984D301, created 2003-12-21

aland@springnight:~ > cat gpgtest.asc
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1

Hello World
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE-----
Version: GnuPG v1.0.6 (GNU/Linux)
Comment: For info see http://www.gnupg.org

-----END PGP SIGNATURE-----

Verify it

aland@springnight:~ > gpg --verify gpgtest.asc
gpg: Warning: using insecure memory!
gpg: Signature made Sun 21 Dec 2003 21:32:34 GMT using DSA key ID F984D301
gpg: Good signature from "Alan Dawson "

You could probable integrate it into pine or mutt ( both availalable also ).

You'd need to find a way of publishing your public key also.
