Installing MKDOC on a Dual Opteron ServerI've started installing on MKDOC on a Dual Opteron ( AMD64 ) server using Debian Testing ( Sarge) A 64 bit version is available as an unofficial port of Debian. There is a HOW-TO here The Debian GNU/Linux AMD64 HOW-TO I installed in Expert mode ( I'm not an expert but it asks a few more questions .. ) as it let me select the kernel to be installed.. kernel-image-2.6.8-10-amd64-k8-smp as its a dual opteron, rather than the generic kernel. I also set the apt-sources to point to sarge rather than sid. After the install I thought of installing a new kernel, just to try and staty ahead. First wrinkle appears...After apt-get install kernel-image-2.6.10-9-amd64-k8-smp The post kernel install of creating an initrd failed with an obscure error The attached patch in the bug report fixes the bug.. but maybe its time to use a more stable distro ? SuSE 9.2 ? By aland at 2005-03-28 15:51 | Community | Employment | Internet | Open Source | aland's blog | login to post comments
