Hi

FYI this is a quick list I did the other day:

MKDoc compared with Plone.
Plone disadvantages

Things that would need fixing in Plone to make it more MKDoc'ish,
there are not too many things!

   1. Plone does have a distinction between directories and
documents, MKDoc is nicer in this respect I think.
   2. Plone does not generate the equilivant of the MKDoc URI Name
from the Title instead the user enters it themselves, this means
that whitespace is translated into %20 etc.
   3. Plone Link Components do not result in hyperlinks in the
document but just a box of links on the margin.
   4. Plone does not use Tidy on HTML by default, though there is a
python zope interface and other things have been wired up to support
this.
   5. Plone does not have just versioning yet, but it is being
considered see also this document .
   6. Plone does not use HTTP authentication by default but uses
cookies (yuck! ;-)
   7. Plone does not seem to have support for Next and Prev sibling
links, and in addition the default menu's in the margin only list
folders and not documents.
   8. Sitemap, there is an addon sitemap and also plans to
incorporate one into the core product but this hasn't yet been done.
   9. Moving documents, it doesn't create Redirects, also move is
just renaming -- I'm not sure it can move documents around the site.

Plone advantages

Things that Plone has that MKDoc doesn't have.

   1. A big community of developers.
   2. A more developed workflow system.
   3. An events component.
   4. Archetypes a framework for the development of new Content
Types in Zope/CMF/Plone. Schema driven automatic form generation,
simple integration with rich content types, and a lower entry bar to
the complex requirements Zope places on new content objects.
   5. A FormMail type thing for forms.
   6. TAL i18n suppoort via .po file and translations into a large
number of languages .
   7. WebDAV and FTP support for uploading content.
   8. WYSIWYG editor, Epoz
