The one I have running here is a Celeron 500Mhz with 256Mb of RAM,
this is probably as slow as you want the machine to be...

The main thing is the version of Perl -- which does woody have?
MKDoc needs Perl 5.8.x
If you install Fedora Core 2 then you can use the same RPMS as our
dev server runs:
http://rpms.mkdoc.com/
Otherwise you can use CAPN to install the needed modules.
There are install instructions in the tar ball:

You want 1.6:
