sorry not really proper minutes - let me re-capitulate my memory is terrible
so please others chip in if you can remember anything else
Me, Damien, John and Drew sat around and didn't have an agenda or formal
rules at all. Alan and Kevin gave their appologies
Dennis came over a few days earlier and chatted about this sort of stuff
too.
We talked about where the cafe is at 6 months post grant.
There seemed a general agreement that we need to 'get sustainable' as can't
keep getting 5 grand grants.
Summarised four main ideas:
Saturday session
Training
Trading - ie fixing computers during the week for money
Grant-supported activity
I think we all want some formula that makes us sustainable, without loosing
the saturday session. So the other three sorts of activity between them have
to deliver a modest suplus to support those costs.
Drew suggested that we could get a feasibility study grant (ie 5k) to
develop a model - seemed like a good idea to me at the time.
On reflection now I'm not so sure - the work to get a modest grant of 5k is
quite a bit - perhaps if two or three of us can commit to a few evenings
work we can bash out a buisness plan sort of thing that includes market
research, financial forecasts etc enough to catapult us straight into the
big league? ie get a 50k grant to employ a worker at 25k for a year? Then
that year is the springboard to sustainability?
Anyway, sorry thats my reflection now, not what was discussed particuarly at
the meeting,
I came away intending to research grants for feasibility studies - also
grants for 50k.
I think we should look at being a community interest company, or a co-op.
Can I now ask everyone, anyone to help me please - research either type of
grant
Can we find someone to guide us to various sources of grant - is there a vas
service that can help us?
Hope that helps,
love
gareth
